Particular attention has been paid to the edge and bed processing, resulting in a bright, open sound that is typical of American drums. -USA Custom- Manufactured at the Pork Pie factory in Canoga Park, California, Pork Pie USA custom drums are handcrafted using only the finest materials. Pork Pie's founder, Bill Detamore, is always on-site as the owner, and he handles all of the painting and edge cutting himself. Featuring an American-made maple shell with a progressive ply design, all bearing edges are optimally processed to maximize the drum's performance, and this snare drum features a 45-degree edge and round over counter cut finish. It is then hand polished at the factory for a perfect finish. Pork Pie is known for its classic yet edgy lacquer finish. Founder Bill Detamore is responsible for all painting, and the beautiful finish is achieved through a 10-step finishing process. The pork pie snare drum has a bright, expansive sound typical of American drums and a moderate mid-low range. It is said to pick up well on microphones for recording, and is preferred by many studio musicians. The finish is made of rosewood and zebrawood, both of which have beautiful grain and create a unique instrument that makes the most of the differences in color between them.
