We have received a Gibson J-50 (manufactured in 2006), which is no longer in production. The J-50 was born in 1942 as a natural version of the J-45. At the time, the natural finish allowed the grain of the top to stand out, so higher quality wood was selected than for the J-45. Because the wood selection required effort, the price was set slightly higher than that of the J-45, but by 1963, the price was on par with the J-45, and it is said that the following year production numbers exceeded those of the J-45. This guitar features a large pickguard, adjustable saddles, and independent Kluson-type tuning machines with 3-piece sides. There is a 5mm crack in the center of the fretboard near the sound hole. There are scratches and dents throughout the guitar, and the top has weathered in places, but the frets are in good condition and it is in relatively good condition considering it is 20 years old. The condition is good, so if you're looking for a different look from the J-45, be sure to give it a try!
