Since its release in 1960, the Jazz Bass has been a staple of Fender's bass lineup alongside the Precision Bass, and continues to influence the music scene to this day. Numerous variations and reissues of the original, as well as models inspired by it by other companies, have been produced, establishing it as a solid standard for electric bass guitars. This time, we have a candy apple red guitar with matching headstock, shipped around 1969. It has a proven track record of being used in large venues, and boasts the stunning looks and sound of a vintage instrument. 【body】 The overall weight is approximately 4.55 kg. The body is made of alder. It features the "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss" finish, unique to this period, in a distinctive candy apple red color over a white polyester base, which is sometimes seen. The top coat has aged to create a distinctive vintage look. Rust on the metal parts, paint peeling due to sticker marks on the back, weather checking, and changes in the paint surface indicate a well-used condition. The strap pin has been replaced with a locking pin (Dunlop style). The finger rest and covers are missing. 【neck】 The neck is made of maple. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. The matching headstock, in the same candy apple red color as the body, has aged like the body, creating a unique character. There are also a few small dents on the back of the neck. The tuners have some rust and inconsistent winding, but they still function properly. The frets and nut have been replaced once, with very little wear and excellent playability. The headstock is 15.6mm thick. The nut width is 38.1mm. The thick neck shape, unique to this period, is also an attractive feature. [Electrical system] The controls are standard jazz bass wiring (2 volume/1 tone). The pickups retain their gray bobbin pickups, dating back to 1969. The bridge pickup is a pre-bridge pickup, delivering a warm, solid tone characteristic of the late '60s. In addition to well-defined lows, the midrange is firm and captivating, giving it a presence that would have supported a band ensemble even in the era of increasingly loud soul, funk, and rock. The volume balance allows for a wide range of sound shaping, and this guitar produces a rich, three-dimensional sound that can be played with fingers or a pick.
