A German-made Club Bass that's popular with players! The 500/2 Club Bass was introduced in 1964 as a replacement for the increasingly popular 500/1 Violin Bass. The 500/2 targeted players who wanted Hofner's unique bass sound but also desired a different look from the Violin Bass, which was strongly associated with Paul McCartney. The 500/2 Club Bass, which combines the body of a Club guitar (produced since 1954) with the neck and assembly of a violin bass, is a German-made, handmade bass that still uses the same components and is assembled using the same methods. The 500/2 Club Bass has a larger body than the 500/1 Violin Bass, but it delivers almost the same tone—the legendary Hofner bottom-end sound—making it a favorite among many. Its fully hollow body and short-scale (30-inch) neck make it a lightweight and easy-to-play bass.
