"When I tell people what the book is about, I usually say that it is about an Irish family and a father who drinks, and that many people in it die from various diseases and that it ’s a real laugh..." A radio recording from 1996. The account of the incredibly grim yet interconnected life of an Irish family speaks not only of life’s twists and stereotypes but also of the atmosphere of the 1930s and 1940s. This autobiographical confession is a powerful testament to the pure Irish nature, written with deep emotion and great stylistic skill. Total time 5 hours 46 minutes. Show more
