The Overdrive Preamp250-X is the latest version of the model, representing its tenth evolution. The gain and level controls use potentiometers with the same resistance and taper as the original model, reproducing not only the sound but also the operability. Additionally, a 3-position toggle switch allows you to select not only the original sound mode but also two different drive modes. The "SILICON" mode reproduces the classic original sound. The "Lift" mode is excellent as a clean boost because it isolates diode clipping from the signal path, and at higher gain settings, the vintage-style LM741 op-amp clips, making it useful as a drive boost as well. The "ASYM" mode provides a distortion sound through asymmetrical clipping.
