A particularly important point in conveying the tone of the Bleu OD is the characteristics of the MOSFETs used in the circuit. The Bleu OD has a two-stage gain stage, and both stages use a special MOSFET newly discovered by Shun Nokina. The harmonic-rich distortion produced by the highly musical characteristics of the MOSFET, and the unique mid-to-high frequency texture inherent in the MOSFET, are what make up the Bleu OD's distinctive sound. Furthermore, there is no diode clipping in the circuit; the distortion and characteristics of the MOSFET itself are what define the tone of the Bleu OD. First, everyone will notice the overwhelming thickness added the moment they turn the effect on. It's not the kind of thickness you might imagine from strong bass, but a very natural thickness that clings to a wide range, mainly in the mid-range. It has such a natural texture that you forget it's an added effect, and it's only when you turn it off that you remember that thickness was an effect. When used as a clean booster, preamp, or tone shaper, this thickness should produce amazing results. As you increase the Gain control, a thick, robust distortion characteristic of discrete circuitry is added. The distortion has a coarse grain and a slightly fuzz-like texture. However, it excels in separation and has just the right amount of compression, and the essence of the sound remains that of an overdrive. Particularly noteworthy is its ability to reproduce and track guitar volume and touch nuances. Even with the Gain control turned up high, it faithfully reproduces picking nuances, and turning down the guitar volume instantly reveals a clean tone.Condition: No problems with use.
