Bargain second-hand items have arrived. The Stormy Bass Drive is EWS's first bass-specific overdrive pedal. It offers an extremely wide range of gain settings, covering everything from clean boost sounds to fat crunch sounds and even deep high-gain sounds. A toggle switch located on the top of the pedal allows you to select from three EQ modes: mid-boost, normal, and mid-cut. Mid-boost boosts the frequency around 750Hz by 6dB, while mid-cut cuts the frequency around 400Hz by 6dB. The tube-like, touch-sensitive drive sound is achieved through an amplification circuit combining MOS FETs and low-noise operational amplifiers, as well as by constantly mixing two gain stages with different frequency characteristics. Despite its ultra-compact size, this pedal features three controls on the top (volume, tone, gain), a one-mode switch (mid-EQ), and can be powered by either an external 9VDC power supply or the built-in 006P battery. The power supply circuit incorporates a DC-DC converter, boosting the input 9VDC to 16VDC.
