Producer Norman and Elizabeth Jones planted vines on their family farm in 1989 and established the Amherst brand. The farm is located 20 km southeast of Avoca in Victoria's Pyrenees wine region. The farm has been in the family for generations and is currently managed by Luke Jones, the son of Norman and Elizabeth. After obtaining a Diploma in Wine Science, Luke gained experience in the industry by working in hospitality, wholesale, and retail before returning home in 2008 to take over winemaking responsibilities and running the vineyard. Tasting Note The fruit was allowed to ripen slowly during a cool, mild growing season and was picked when perfectly ripe. The wine has plush fruit flavours of plum and blackberry, with undertones of vanilla and baking spice. It also has ripe tannins and a full, long finish.
