Hand-painted birch scene. Created with multiple coats of hand-tinted plaster on medium-density fiberboard. 8" x 24" plaster on board ready to hang hand painted in Sterling Heights, MI Jan Burns is a plaster artist based in southeast Michigan. Each piece begins with the surface, whether it's a piece of MDF board, a salvaged door, or a custom cut piece of wood. She builds layers of plaster over the top, creating three dimensional shapes and textures that she then brings to life with hand-mixed colors and metallic foil.
