Cylinder Head to Block Stud for the four-cylinder diesel engines - 2.25L and 2.5L naturally-aspirated. The stud threads into the cylinder block deck and, with its nut and washer, c lamps the cylinder head and head gasket down onto the block. Head studs carry the clamping load that seals combustion pressure, coolant and oil at the head-to-block joint. They are tightened to the specified torque in sequence so clamping force is spread evenly across the gasket. A stretched, seized or corroded stud can allow gasket failure, coolant loss into the bores and loss of compression, so studs are inspected whenever the head is removed. Show more
