Writing a dissertation requires a paradox shift for the student; they must transition from reporting and citing information to synthesizing and adding to the literature. At the same time, the student must credit the source while also allowing the literature, data, and results to keep its initial meaning and integrity. The undertaking can be confusing, emotional, and difficult to navigate without sound guidance. In PHinisheD! Writing a Doctoral Dissertation, authors Tricia M. Mikolon and Cyrus R. Williams III draw upon their personal experiences earning doctoral degrees and coaching students through the process to assist candidates through this phase of their educational journey. The book helps readers better understand the rigors of writing and provides them with practical information, suggestions, and advice. It provides an in-depth review of the entire process, from the inception of an idea, through the literature review, proposal, research, and data analysis, and to the final defense. Dedicated chapters focus on qualitative and quantitative methodologies to assist candidates in the gathering of quality research. Supportive and enlightening, PHinisheD! is an exemplary resource for any student working toward their doctoral degree.
