This new publication has been designed for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 learners. Each topic is equivalent to an hours teaching. Health and Emotional Wellbeing places an emphasis on a skills-based approach to explore health and emotional wellbeing related issues. Health and Emotional Wellbeing can be used to: • promote personal and social skill development • allow learners to work together • allow learners to work independently • allow learners to explore topical and contemporary issues • allow learners to express opinions and consider the views of others • develop learners self-esteem and self-awareness • empower young people to explore the many aspects of sexuality and healthy personal relationships • encourage learners to accept personal responsibility for keeping the mind and body healthy Health and Emotional Wellbeing links in with the health and emotional well-being, and active citizenship themes within the PSE National Curiculum. Emotional well-being uses a skills- based approach to promoting personal and social skills development in learners. It provides active learning activities which help to develop pupils’ self-esteem and self-awareness.
