The subject of spirituality and organization has emerged as a significant focus of study during the past decade, yet considerable challenges remain in understanding the nature of t his phenomenon. In this groundbreaking text, Bell and Scott demonstrate how the study of spirituality can be developed by bringing sociological and psychological understandings of religion to bear on contemporary organizational practices. Charting the rise of contemporary spiritualities which pose a challenge to rationalized modernity at the turn of the twenty-first century, the authors draw on wide ranging evidence to demonstrate the importance of spirituality in diverse cultural contexts and at different historical moments. The book argues for greater pluralism in understanding spirituality and organization through the adoption of a broader range of methodological and theoretical perspectives. It is ideal for students of organizational behaviour, leadership, and spirituality and organizations. Show more
