Trippy Buttons of the '60s showcases a collection of illustrated pins depicting themes ranging from spiritual discovery to psychedelic drug use. 1966 saw a phenomenal rise in the u se of wearable pins, having previously been used mainly for conventions and political campaigns. The epicenter of this recontextualized, new fad which leaned towards pop culture slogans and anti-war activism, was the San Francisco Bay Area of the hippie era, but pins were soon being produced and sold nationwide wherever young people congregated.
