A famous war novel about the Battle of the Atlantic, about the heroism and courage of ordinary Britons, who were torn from their everyday lives by the war to engage in ruthless bat tles with German submarines and the Luftwaffe's air forces aboard a corvette escorting convoys of cargo ships supplying England. The cruel war sea is a place of sinking ships and dying sailors, complex human relationships, and friendships. The heroes of the story escape from the relentless life at sea for brief moments of rest in the circle of family, only to return again to the harsh fight. Show more
