Mountainous volcanic islands with lush vegetation, flat coral atolls with dazzling white beaches and turquoise lagoons - this is the Pacific, a land far from tourist resorts and ports. The culture of the Polynesians and Melanesians survives here, along with ancient customs and traditions. The journey to the indigenous people cannot be booked through a travel agency; it must be found on one's own and is also associated with many hardships. Leoš Šimánek traveled among the archipelagos on yachts, where he worked as a cook or helmsman. He worked and lived with the locals, experiencing their life - often happier than we Europeans know - saw unusual things, and had extraordinary experiences, which he is now happy to share with readers in his fifth, predominantly photographic publication.
