A debauched rock star. A deeply religious radio host. A disgraced scientist. And a young girl who may be the world's last hope. One morning, Shana discovers that her younger sister has been struck by a strange illness. She is sleepwalking. She doesn't speak and can't seem to wake up. And she is heading with relentless determination towards a goal known only to herself. However, Shana and her sister are not alone. Soon, a whole crowd of sleepwalkers from all corners of America joins them, embarking on the same mysterious journey. Alongside Shana are other 'shepherds' protecting their friends and relatives on the long dark road ahead. Sleepwalking unleashes violence and terror in America. The real danger may not be the epidemic itself, but the fear of it. The fate of the sleepwalkers depends on whether the mystery of the epidemic can be unraveled while the surrounding society collapses and an ultra-violent militia prepares to wipe them out.
