The third, completely revised and expanded edition of this successful publication comprehensively addresses the given issue. The monograph by authors from the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University and both university hospitals in Brno is conceived as a modern practical guide to cardiovascular pharmacotherapy. It lists individual drug groups: medications that block the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, alpha-blockers and central agonists, vasodilators, nitrates, diuretics, cardiac glycosides, inotropic agents and sympathomimetics, antithrombotics, antiarrhythmics, hypolipidemics, and other medications in cardiology. Finally, two more general chapters are included: Basic Drug Interactions of Cardiovascular Drugs and From Clinical Trials to Clinical Practice. The authors aimed for a publication that is as clear as possible, which should help not only general practitioners but also outpatient and hospital internists and cardiologists. Given the significant increase in cardiovascular diseases in the population, medical students in their final years of study and doctors of all specialties can also find a good and practical assistant in this publication.
