"Daddy, what is death? Is it your scythe?" one day asks Mr. Death's little daughter. And he decides to send her out into the world to learn everything essential about life. But how can a little girl go her own way in the big world without losing herself? And what should she do with her dad's enormous scythe? Fortunately, it soon becomes clear that all she needs to do is keep her eyes wide open and look around. And so, the black robe is replaced by cheerful clothes after falling into a bucket of yellow paint, which get shorter day by day as the little girl with the scythe grows bigger and more mature. And dad's scythe can even become a swing. This charming story for both young and old is complemented by the delightful collages of Dorothee Schwab. The book won the City of Vienna Award for Children's and Youth Literature (2010) and was nominated for the IBBY Honor List (2012).
