The book introduces new approaches that have emerged in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in recent decades, often referred to as the third wave in CBT. These approaches focus more on analyzing deeply rooted patterns of thinking and behavior that have developed in individuals exposed to harmful influences in early childhood, resulting in difficult-to-change ways of thinking and behaving. The third wave has brought about a broad integration with other psychotherapeutic directions, such as Gestalt therapy, existential psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, ego psychology, systemic therapy, Buddhist and yoga strategies, and family or narrative therapy approaches. Its strengths also include high therapeutic efficacy validated by clinical studies. Therapies focused on Jeffrey E. Young's schemas, Hayes's acceptance and commitment therapy, Marsha M. Linehan's dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness-based CBT are described in detail. Each chapter presents the fundamental principles of the respective approach, the therapeutic strategies used, therapy examples, and exercises. The aim of the book is to inspire not only CBT therapists but also therapists from other approaches and to expand their working style.
