Beneš was not a hero, but in a certain sense, a fearful diplomat. The book clarifies the forgotten and sensitive facts of his life. While Beneš's past offers us positive events, we do not wish to downplay or even deny them. No one can deny his diplomatic merits, but a number of historical facts portray the Czech politician, with his recognized correctness, as a manipulator, intriguer, and even a gambler. What kind of person was Beneš, who is associated with spying during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, pre-war betrayal accompanied by his escape to London, and post-war violence? All touches of negative realities were always overshadowed by the surge of his alleged abilities, which are to some extent glorified. Yes, Beneš is doing relatively well, thanks to his supporters who skillfully cover up his controversies and failures. Based on numerous insights today, one can speak of this statesman as a person who adaptively adjusted to all political circumstances and ruthlessly exploited opportunities for his own benefit.
