Historical towns and villages are, alongside castles and chateaux, the most valuable part of Czech cultural heritage. They showcase the grandeur of churches, the splendor of luxurious noble palaces, as well as more modest burgher houses and the simplest monuments of folk architecture. The color of historical towns often includes romantic medieval walls with gates and grand town hall buildings. The status of urban heritage reserves and zones has helped save most urban complexes, and today at least the squares can once again show themselves in all their glory. Some towns and even one village are now included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. This book aims to guide readers through the most beautiful towns and selected villages of the Czech Republic (excluding Prague) with words and images, inspiring them to travel to discover the beauties of our country.
