The men have vodka, the women have worries, and the children scratch at eczema. What does Nami have? Nami has nothing — just a grandmother with thick arms. But when life begins at the very end of the world, perhaps it will end at its beginning. This story is, after all, as old as humanity itself. It is the journey of a hero, a boy who sets out with only a bundle of nerves and a coat from his grandfather. He must go into the world to seek, and return home to find. He must cross the lake, circle it, and finally dive to its bottom for the greatest secret. The book won the Magnesia Litera Award 2017 in the Book of the Year category. The author, Bianca Bellová, received the European Prize for Literature 2017.
