Harry is a successful racehorse breeder, somewhat of an adventurer, and a staunch bachelor who definitely has no intention of falling into the trap called marriage. Therefore, he decides to escape from the pesky matchmakers and widows of London! Lucinda is a young widow who, after her husband's death, travels around England with her stepdaughter and quite enjoys the life of a single lady who is largely her own mistress. However, when one day an unknown attractive man unexpectedly helps her out of a little predicament, her plans begin to gradually change! Harry feels a duty to protect Lucinda from the schemes of lonely gamblers, even though she refuses his countless offers of help. But it doesn't take long for Harry to get caught in his own trap – he offers Lucinda marriage!
