In the ma rket there are cheap metal strainers similar to this, but made from unknown metal and can be prone to rust. We specially ordered these 99.9% pure silver strainers from one of the Yunnan silversmiths we work with for silver kettles. Pure silver can have a good effect on the water in general and with these at least you can be confident that it wouldn't negatively affect your tea.
