There is a local train station for tourists who come to the hot springs, "Pichinokei Onsenhyogo Iriguchi Station," where there are restaurants, inns (ryokan), souvenir and general stores, and a newly established cab company. Tourists arriving by train from the city get off at this station and transfer to the electric track line or a cab to get to the hot spring village. In the early Showa period (1926 = the first year of the Showa era), the dawn gasoline-powered automobiles imported from Europe and the United States were beginning to spread, and although they were naturally expensive for the general public, it seems that they were being operated by political and zaibatsu tycoons and cab companies. At the same time that cabs were becoming more widespread, I believe that rickshaws and other older means of transportation were disappearing. I think this period was a major turning point in the history of land transportation.
