A delightful small antique Spanish Talavera pitcher from the Niveiro workshop in Talavera de la Reina, hand-painted in the earthy, exuberant style the region has been known for sin ce the 16th century. The bulbous body is decorated with a leaping hare or rabbit in warm amber and brown against a cream ground with green landscape details, the wavy ruffled rim is edged in teal green, and the letter "A" is painted on the neck — likely a maker's or painter's mark. Tuck a few stems into it, set it on a kitchen shelf, or use it as a small pouring vessel — it has the honest charm of something made entirely by hand.
