Designer: Geoffrey Bawa In the 1960s, B awa’s collaborators, batik designer Ena de Silva and sculptor Laki Senanayake, made some rustic furniture using huge slabs of wood. This may have inspired Bawa in 1970 to use a single plank from a fallen tree for a heavy three-inch-thick tabletop, supported by triangular wrought iron legs. The re-edition joins smaller wood sections with an aluminium brace to prevent bending and cupping. The base is made with black powder-coated stainless steel.
