A R Kane occupy a singular place in the late-1980s London underground, where Rudy Tambala and Alex Ayuli fused shoegaze atmospherics, dub space, and dream-pop fragility before any of those genre tags existed. Their 1994 double album *I* arrived as something of a final statement, dense with textured ambiguity and the kind of quiet radicalism that made their earlier work so influential.
