General Information: These 3D Files were constructed from our popular A3 Mandolin Plans and 2D CNC files that we have in the plan section of our site. You will find that these files will provide a top level of convenience to customers who possess a CNC router, or access to CNC routing services. We offer our A3 Mandolin Files either as a complete set or individual pieces (4) pieces total. if you don’t need the entire instrument. For instance if you only want the Neck, you can purchase the files to mill the neck. Unsure if these files will work on your CNC system? Note that all hardware including tuners, frets, purfling, bindings, screws, truss rod, and sides are not a part of these files and are shown for illustration purposes. All these 3D CNC files are formatted in STL format (Stereolithography). Most 3D CNC controller software should handle this popular formatting. The available files are detailed below: A3 Mandolin Plate Set Combo: This file consists of (1) file with (4) components. 1. The top plate is carefully contoured to the proper shape with soundhole cut into top. The underside of the top is cut out to match the plans. Note: Top does not include any geometry for bindings or purfling. Recurving added to the outside edge. 2. The Top Plate as above without soundhole. 3. Back Plate. Carved in a similar manner to (1) above. Center Ridge added from neck joint fading into back plate. 4. Top Braces: Bass and Treble braces are contoured to the top plate undercut. Final shaping shall be done by hand. A3 Mandolin Neck Combo: This file will give you a smooth 3D file of the neck contour, heel contour, Dovetail Joint attachment to the headblock, complete peg head contour, tuner holes, bushing recesses, truss rod channel and access in the headpiece. Also included with this set is the headpiece overlay, both plain and cutout for pearl inlay, the trussrod cover and the pearl inlay at the headpiece. A3 Mandolin Block Set: This file consists the Block set, which includes the fretboard support block, head block and tail block. A3 Mandolin Fretboard: This file will contain the proper fretboard outline perimeter, fretboard recesses for the MOP Inlays and fret slots for the proper scale. (.023"; .58mm wide). The second set of files includes the model for the A3 style pickguard. Refer to our 3D CNC Faq Sheet for detailed information of these files.
