To avoid accelerating the patina process, do not shower with your jewelry on or store it in the bathroom, as water and humidity will darken the metal. Cleaning To remove patina/discoloration from raw brass pieces, make a solution of ¼ cup white vinegar, 1 tsp. dish soap, and 1 cup warm water. Soak the jewelry until cleaned, about 3-5 minutes. Rinse and dry well. Show more
