A wonderful large-scale Swedish oil by Bo Swenson (1932-2022). Featuring bold gestural brushwork in black, mint green and soft blush tones. Richly textured with confident, expressive mark-making, the composition makes a dramatic contemporary statement while remaining versatile enough for a range of interiors. Presented in a simple timber float frame and in very good overall condition, with one tiny paint loss to the right edge (shown in the final image). The imperfection is barely noticeable when displayed and has been thoughtfully reflected in the asking price. Swenson was a prominent Swedish modernist painter and printmaker known for vibrant, dynamic abstract compositions inspired by memory and nature. A graduate of the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, he worked for decades from a studio in Hagaparken, creating art described as "modernist nature romanticism" with a focus on motion and intense colour. His pieces are held in major public collections, including the Swedish National Museum and Moderna Museet in Stockholm as well as internationally. Dimensions: 112cm x 89cm Please note, all items are vintage and/or second-hand and sold as such. Although we make every effort to highlight major flaws, minor imperfections should be expected as reflective of the age and previous use of the piece.
