One afternoon, intrigued, I grabbed my camera, staged the scene and began exploring light, shadow and form. Initially, I photographed the paper on my dark wooden desk, but the reflections and background noise detracted from the subject. To focus attention where it belonged, I crafted a simple “stage” with a clean backdrop and subtle props to support the form. Holding the paper at different angles, I played with light and shadow until each composition came to life.
