Accra (2019) is one of several archived experiments that informed the Traffic in Accra series launched by Chiizii in 2021. The work originates from photographs captured in Accra in 2018, with collage development completed in 2019. Translated into print from an original photographic collage, the composition layers Chiizii’s view of Accra with the textured surface of her dyed gradient denim textile work and a faint image of a car bearing the GH sign, referencing Ghana. Astrologically, Accra is a site where her Mercury Descendant and Jupiter Imum Coeli lines intersect, signifying a place of heightened mental activity and harmonious international connection. The work stands as an ode to the city and its enduring influence.
