Acer fabri is a rare, evergreen maple from Vietnam and China that has unlobed, green leaves with reddish growth in the spring. Acer fabri is evergreen in mild climates and deciduou s if temperatures drop below about 20 degrees F. We had this plant in our garden for about 20 years and it has become a small tree (mostly deciduous here in our garden) and I've seen a beautiful plant in Salem, Oregon that stays totally evergreen. Its glossy green leaves are very "unmaple like" and most people would never guess its a maple. A choice landscape plant probably best in a sheltered, lightly shaded area.
