The martian telephone is almost the same as an earthlings phone except, the keys are rotated and the zero comes right before the three. This is a memory aid that helps the student skip count in threes. They should memorize the telephone sequence: 0,3,6,9,2,5,8,1,4,7. The cutout on page 3 is for practice and fun. With the aid of the martian telephone and the tens’ place indicator lights (which tell you which row on the keypad you are on) the student adds or subtracts three by skip counting in threes.
