Allan Deviation, or ADEV, is a core oscillator specification used across the industry. This core measurement was developed due to oscillators and clocks having noise that caused th e traditional statistical measures to diverge. With the advent of ADEV, more meaningful clock comparisons could be made, and a greater understanding of oscillator and clock stability achieved.
