Admiral Hops for Bold English Bitterness and Late-Hop Character Admiral is a United Kingdom grown hop, offered here in standard T-90 pellet form and well suited to brewers who want to get the most out of both bittering additions and later hop charges. The Admiral hop varietal was developed in 1996 by Horticulture Research International at Wye College. The British Hop Association describes Admiral as a high-alpha, resinous English hop with good dry-hop aroma potential. Admiral is generally described as coming from Northdown x Challenger breeding lines, which helps explain its place as a modern English variety with strong bittering ability and a more expressive late-hop side than many brewers expect from a high-alpha hop. Flavor and Brewing Character Admiral is known for orange, citrus, and resinous character, backed by herbal notes and classic English hop character. In the brewhouse, Admiral hops are well suited for bittering, late additions, and dry hop use, and they fit naturally in English ales, IPAs, ESBs, and porters. Expect strong bittering with a recognizable late-hop character in the finished beer. Why Brewers Choose Admiral Admiral is an English-bred high-alpha hop that can be used in several ways, making it a versatile choice for bittering as well as later flavor and aroma additions. If you are brewing an IPA, ESB, porter, or another hop-forward English-inspired beer, Admiral is a strong candidate for your next batch.
