SIgned at the back / Hand-signed by artist, Adeine De La Noe - no date (Approx 1980) No Framing Adeine De La Noe (1914 - 1987) Adeïne de La Noë, born in France and trained at the Beaux Arts in Lille and Grande Chaumière in Paris, emigrated to the U.S. in 1956. She studied at the Art Students League and with Hans Hofmann before moving to Taos in 1961 for a Wurlitzer Foundation residency. Influenced by Abstract Expressionism, she created non-figurative and landscape works evolving into color fields, often incorporating natural textures like river gravel. A key figure among the Taos Moderns, Adeïne remained in Taos for life, celebrated for capturing light and nature’s essence. Her work reflects emotion, turbulence, and beauty, prioritizing feeling over concept.
