If you are ready to learn some professional techniques in Ballet Tutu making, we are here for you! You must be familiar with working on a sewing machine. If you are not familiar with a sewing machine, join our Basics Sewing Workshop instead. This workshop is recommended for those who have finished our leotard, crop tops and briefs sewing workshops. 12 Sessions Workshop – 3 hours per session (36 hours total) Here at Free Movement, we promise a small student to teacher ratio to ensure each student gets the assistance and attention they need. Reach out to us to book a class! -------------------------------------------------------------- What you will learn: Drawing a Tutu pattern based on your measurements Understanding Tutu skirts Different ways of making a Tutu Working with and sewing stiff fabrics by machine and hand Specific specialised techniques for creating a successful Tutu Understanding Types of materials and accessories used in making a Ballet Tutu Gathering techniques for Tutu pleating Be aware of the purpose of different types of fabrics and embellishments for Tutus depending on theme of dance Understanding fabric grain lines and how to identify them for maximum stretch Pinning and cutting stretch and non-stretch fabrics Using the right seam for joining and finishing Hemming and clean-finishing seams Handling and applying elastic to waistbands Seek the perfect length for your Tutu skirt Finding the right fit for your body type Work with different types of fabrics such as Spandex, Chiffon, Cotton and more You will be advised on what materials to get by the end of the first session. This course will focus on sewing the main bodice, briefs and Tutu skirt, it will not include embellishments and rhinestoning work.
