AE-S01 – Antony & Cleopatra Few couples from the ancient world have captured the imagination quite like Mark Antony and Cleopatra VII. Their story combined political ambition, military power, romance and ultimately tragedy, set against the dramatic final years of both the Roman Republic and Ptolemaic Egypt. Cleopatra VII was the last active ruler of Egypt’s Ptolemaic dynasty. Intelligent, politically astute and determined to preserve Egypt’s independence, she first allied herself with Julius Caesar and, following his assassination, formed a powerful political and personal partnership with the Roman general Mark Antony. Together, Antony and Cleopatra became major rivals to Octavian, the future Emperor Augustus. Their struggle culminated in the Battle of Actium in 31 BC, where their combined naval forces were defeated. The following year, with Octavian closing in on Alexandria, Antony and Cleopatra both took their own lives, bringing an extraordinary chapter of ancient history to an end. AE-S01 – Antony & Cleopatra brings these two legendary figures together in an impressive King & Country two-figure set, making it a striking addition to any Ancient Egypt collection or historical display. Available from The Military Workshop – helping collectors bring history to life through beautifully detailed military and historical miniatures.
