AE ScrubX media increases pH of aquarium water by absorbing CO2 from the air being injected into the protein skimmer. Maintaining a stable & slightly higher pH promotes more effective deposition of calcium carbonate -> improved growth rate & health of corals. AE ScrubX media has a convenient color changing property that changes from white to purple when the media is depleted. Closed rooms and environments tend to accumulate more CO2 laden air which dissolves to form carbonic acid, resulting in lower average pH of the water (more acidic). By using AE ScrubX media in a reactor that feeds into the protein skimmer, the CO2 is removed from the air. The resulting air dissolved during the aeration process results in higher water pH levels. Directions -Fill AE ScrubX media carefully into a tall reactor -Connect the air intake of the protein skimmer to the outlet of the AE ScrubX media reactor. -1L of AE ScrubX media will typically last about 4-6 weeks depending on the air flow rate of the skimmer & the CO2 levels in the enviroment. -As the media is fully saturated, it will change to a light purple color. This will occur in layers over time. This convenient visual indicator ensures optimum usage of media. -Replace with new AE ScrubX media once fully saturated. Caution -Do not get the media wet at all times. -Do not breath in fine dust created from individual beads of media rubbing against eachother as it will irritate the respiratory tract. -Avoid contact with skin & eyes. -Keep out of reach of children.
