Aechmeas are epiphytic bromeliads (family Bromeliaceae, the same tropical group as the pineapple) that hold water in a central vase, or cup, and are famous for some of the longest-lasting flowers in the plant world. Origin and form Aechmeas come from the forests of Central and South America, growing on trees in bright, filtered light.
