Circular and Triangular shaped Ivory pieces with Black Beads. Handcrafted by Aeshia Upton. Aeshia Upton is from the village of Togiak, Alaska. She learned to love carving from her father and she’s been beading/sewing since the age of 7, taught to her by her mother. Aeshia receives walrus tusks/ivory from the hunters of Togiak, as it is a traditional food they eat and use every part of, so it doesn’t go to waste. Carving a particular item takes days to prepare before the final assembly. That includes cutting, sanding, and perfecting the shape in to a beautiful pair of earrings.
