The art work shows the interior of a museum, which has been flooded by a deluge. In the centre, only one statue remains, emerging from the water-filled corridor, while in the background a number of artworks that have detached themselves from the walls and are floating can be seen. The artwork, as well as the series of which it is part, is intended to depict the Deluge, a biblical scene re-proposed in a modern key. The series was created between 2006 and 2009 immediately after a visit to the Sistine Chapel, symbolising a significant moment in LaChapelle's career. After The Deluge: Statue is hand-signed and has the original frame made by LaChapelle's studio. The shot was taken in 2007 and measures 53x40 in.
