Agave multifilifera seeds grow into the many-threaded agave — a compact, densely-leafed agave native to the subtropical highland biome of the Sierra Madre Occidental of Chihuahua and Sinaloa, Mexico, growing on rocky slopes and canyon walls at altitude. The epithet multifilifera means 'bearing many threads' (from Latin multus = many + filum = thread + ferre = to bear), referring to the very numerous whitish, filamentous threads peeling from the leaf margins — even more abundant than in A. filifera.
