About the Ahlat Cushion Cover — Fabric, Styling & Care ▾ Made from the same cotton peshtemal cloth we weave into towels, cut and sewn into a cushion cover with a simple black and cream stripe. It is a minimal, slightly bohemian pattern that does the useful thing a cushion should: adds texture without committing the room to a colour. Why peshtemal cloth for a cushion It washes. Unlike velvet or heavy jacquard, this goes in the machine — which matters on a sofa that gets actually used. It softens. The cotton breaks in with each wash instead of pilling or going stiff. It has texture, not sheen. A flat handwoven stripe reads as considered rather than shiny and synthetic. It layers. Black and cream sits with almost anything — linen, leather, timber, or our striped throws. Styling Works on a sofa, an armchair, a bed or a window seat. Two or three in a row along a long sofa read as deliberate; one on a reading chair is enough on its own.
