If you build your own Euro leaders or fuss over custom leader formulas at the vise, the Ahrex Tippet Rings belong in your kit. A go-to option for anglers building Euro leaders or custom formulas at home, the 2mm size pairs well with modern thin-diameter leader construction and multi-fly rigs. The idea is simple: tie the ring onto your leader once, then attach tippet to the ring instead of cutting back your taper every time you swap flies.Tippet rings are one of those small upgrades that quietly fix a recurring annoyance. You tie the ring onto your leader once, then tie tippet to the ring as needed, which keeps you from cutting back your tapered leader every time you change flies or replace worn tippet, helping your leader last longer and keeping turnover consistent. They also make adding droppers painless, which is why the Euro and tight-line crowd reaches for them so often. The 2mm size sits in the sweet spot for trout work without dragging down your presentation.Key Features 2mm ring diameter, sized for light to medium leaders and modern thin-diameter builds Sold 10 per pack Tie the ring to your leader once, then attach tippet to the ring with a standard clinch knot Lets you change tippet without shortening your tapered leader Works well for Euro nymphing, dry-dropper rigs, and adding droppers From Ahrex, a Scandinavian-rooted brand designed around Euro and modern leader fishing Why We Like ItThe 2mm size is the right call for most trout fishing. Most trout fishing, Euro nymphing, and dry-dropper rigs use smaller rings around 2mm, while heavier rings around 3mm make more sense when you are stepping up for steelhead, bigger flies, or higher breaking-strength tippet. For the leaders most of us fish day to day, 2mm keeps the connection small enough to stay out of the way and clean enough to turn over without a hitch. These earn their spot if you fish multi-fly rigs or rebuild tippet often. A go-to option for anglers building Euro leaders or custom formulas at home, the 2mm size pairs well with modern thin-diameter leader construction and multi-fly rigs. One note: if you fish salt or brackish water, rinse your leader system after trips, since rings live right where spray, sand, and sunscreen tend to build up. For freshwater trout duty, though, you tie one on and forget it is there, which is exactly the point.
