Eau de Parfum Aigue Monème is a limpid green reflective scent that presents as the waterscape paintings of Norwegian artist Frits Thaulow reflected in the glass of brutalist architecture. Verdancy and kingfisher blues, shot through with flickering light bounced back with mysterious and challenging beauty. Aigue Monème opens with a cold mineral shimmer: the glint of petrol on icy water, bitter and lucid, like a stream catching winter light. The water is chatty and unpredictable, clear as crystal, the riverbed an insight of glistening stones, algae, ribboning plants and lapped banks. First impressions are of cool caraway and crushed coriander seed, their aromatic chill sharpened by a dusting of black pepper. This cool aromatic opening has an anisic glassiness; look into the scent and it seems to stare back with aloof urgency. A light green chalk facet is a small clue from Julie, and the more you consider this idea, the more dissociative the body of Aigue Monème becomes.
